The Student Poster Contest is open to all students from various age groups and grade levels. Whether you’re a budding painter, a sketch artist, or a digital illustrator.
CONTEST RULES
Create a poster that will promote food waste reduction choosing one of the topics below according to your grade. Be sure to include a message that communicates the overall theme and focuses on the topic chosen.Â
All images and words must be CLEAR and easy to see from a distance and reflect your chosen topic. All entries must be student created.

Poster images must be submitted online and created in color, by hand. Digital creation allowed for University level. No AI generated images.
Avoid using any brand names or names of stores in your poster. Entries including brand names will be disqualified.
Sizes (vertical/horizontal):
Standard Letter/Flyer 8.5 x 11
Tabloid 11 x 17
Poster 18 x 24
Entry forms open: May 1, 2026
Upload artwork via online entry by (Sept. 21, 2026)
Prizes categories: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place
Winners will be announced Sept 28 – Oct. 4 (Actual FWPW)
By entering, participants agree that Food Waste Prevention Week and Sponsors can use their artwork for education and promotion.
Judging Criteria
Clarity of Message
Judges will look at whether the pictures and words strongly communicate the theme and chosen topic, are easy to understand, and make people feel something or take action.
Creativity and Originality
Judges will look for new ideas, imagination, and work that feels unique and different from others.
Organization & Presentation
Judges will look at how the space is used, how easy it is to read, and how everything works together and shows strong artistic ability.
